Leslie Cook
Les Cook lived in Essex, later moving to Norfolk for health reasons.

He served in the R.A.F., was a photographer and pilot in Canada. He also served in Burma, India, Sri Lanka and Cocos Islands fighting the Japanese. He later moved to just outside Hiroshima before being demobbed.

His love of history started him writing for the village magazine. His first booklet being "Rockland Sabbath School". Later he started researching the origins of Rocklands, the churches, also people who had left the village for Australia for a better life.

The words above were written by Cynthia Cook in the booklet “Rocklands Beginnings to 1988”.  The booklet contains articles written by Les for the Rocklander (Parish) Magazine.  Les and Cynthia were regulars in the congregation and friends to many people from both churches.  I am grateful to Joan Fisher, the current editor of the Rocklander for the use of this material.  I understand that Les and Cynthia had no family but if anyone has a claim on this material, I am grateful to them as well.
